The Tatagwa Parkway Plant-A-Tree Program is designed to enable you to make a lasting, living gift to your community by purchasing a tree and having it planted in recognition of someone close to you, or special occasions in your life such as births, engagements and graduations. Trees can also be purchased in lieu of flowers in memory of a loved one or friend.

This project has been established to solicit public and private donations to help shorten the time required to complete many of the Parkway's projects -- to allow us to DO these things which otherwise might not get done.

Donations to the Plant-A-Tree Program will offset the costs of more mature trees and hasten the restoration and preservation of planting throughout the Parkway.

The Tatagwa Plant-A-Tree Program is intended to raise funds to ensure enhance the development of our urban forest through public and private donations. Donations made to the Plant-A-Tree Program offset the costs of planting the many trees that add to the beauty of Tatagwa Parkway.

Support from people like you will help the Parks Department to plant trees throughout Tatagwa Parkway's 72 hectares adjoining the Souris River. This area, which a few years ago had very few trees, now supports the beginning of an urban forest. Your assistance will help us to speed up this process -- bringing closer the time when our children can play among mature trees in the Parkway.

A TATAGWA TREE BEE
   by Joan Drouillard Honig, Weyburn

They're kind of small and spindly,
But they'll grow strong and tall.
They hold the seeds of promise,
Of what you did one fall.

Like you, my son, each will grow,
To fulfill its' destiny.
Circumstances will mold and form,
And shape it by degree.

As you plant these seeds of hope,
You're giving life and limb.
A chance to breathe and breathing breath,
Into the futures of our land.

What better work for future pay,
Than what we do today.
Were it not for helping hands (like yours),
We would never see the day.

Recognition

Companies can honour long service employees or exceptional employee performance, and organizations can ensure a lasting and growing tribute for volunteer efforts by purchasing trees that are planted in their names.

The name of the persons or organization being honoured will be permanently recorded and displayed on a engraved plaque at City Hall. Trees will be planted and maintained by the Parks Department throughout the Tatagwa Parkway. Each tree planted with the help of your donation will be suitably sited by the Parks Department, who have a map available to show you the layout.
