The Weyburn Fire Department employs both career and paid-on-call firefighters. There are 6 career positions and 26 paid-on-call positions. (There are no volunteer positions)
Paid-on-Call positions are filled by secret ballot, (all 26 members of the Weyburn Fire Brigade have a vote). Anyone over the age of 18 may apply by filling out a Fire Brigade Application and forwarding it to the Chief or Deputy Chief. All applications are held on file until there is an opening. Applicants who have been voted on 3 times and failed to get elected will have their applications removed from the file, however, they may re-apply at any time.
Career positions are usually filled by Weyburn Fire Brigade members using the current hiring policies and practices established by the City of Weyburn Human Resources Department. All positions are advertised when there is an opening and applicants must submit a City of Weyburn Application, a resume and supporting documentation based on the advertisement. Successful candidates are invited for an interview with the Chief and/or Deputy Chief.
